So the correct order to get your sound done is:ġ) Install sound driver, 2) Install Soundblaster from CD in Vista compatability mode, 3) Install the patch. You should have a CD labeled Creative Soundblaster X-Fi MB that you need to install from, then once that is installed you can install the patch. That is only a patch and not the full program.
Music is handled very well with bass notes that are nice and warm but not overpowering. You say you are using the PATCH? Is that the one from the Drivers and Download page? If you answer yes then I know the problem. The Sound BlasterX H5 isnt the loudest headset out there but its plenty loud enough in our opinion, especially given how well it attenuates external sounds, and it also doesnt distort a maximum volume like so many cheaper models.
